RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, has said that President Bola Tinubu is an ailing man who is using Nigeria as a health insurance.
Sowore, who said this on Wednesday while reacting to how the President fell at the Eagle Square in Abuja while boarding the parade vehicle at the venue of Nigeria’s 25th Democracy Day celebration, criticised the Presidency and Tinubu’s supporters for comparing the incident with that of US President Joe Biden.
Speaking in an interview with VOP FM after the incident, Sowore described the incident as no mere accident, adding that it “is what we were saying when I was running for the office in 2019 and 2023”.
He said, “Tinubu is sick and there is no country in the world that should allow a sick person to lead them.
“I have said it and I will repeat it here, I have no problem with old people, aging people or sick people because these are natural occurrences but the moment it is established that they are incapable of running a country like Buhari did and held Nigeria for ransom for eight years, step out of the way and let people who are fit, have the capacity and of great good health, to run the country.
“There is no need to sugarcoat it. There is no need to compare Biden with Tinubu. Difference being that we know Biden’s prognosis. We know that he is sick and we know the nature and character of his illness and his old age but nobody knows that of Tinubu.”
According to Sowore, “He (Tinubu) is just using Nigeria as health insurance”.
The former African Action Congress presidential candidate said, “America has a great institution that can even run without a President but Nigeria doesn’t. Nigeria’s fate is tied to the President’s office. It is a hopeless unitarian system of government. We cannot be making that kind of comparison.
“By the way, if America is doing something wrong, must Nigeria do the same way? It is not as if we are doing what America is doing right. We are only interested in using America’s wrong to compare our own or to elevate our own wrongs. How long are we going to do that for?”
