The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has called on the Federal Government to launch a thorough investigation into the abduction and killing of Brigadier Gen. Musa Uba by terrorists in Borno State. He urged authorities to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure accountability.

Kwankwaso condemned the killing and expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity across Nigeria, citing multiple recent incidents. These include the recent abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, mass kidnappings in Zamfara State, bandit attacks in Shanono and Ghari Local Government Areas of Kano State, and a terrorist attack on a church in Eruku, Kwara State.

Speaking on X, the two-term former governor said: “The recent surge in insecurity in Nigeria demands urgent attention from all authorities, especially the Federal Government. The kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State is deeply worrying and echoes a disturbing pattern.

The abduction and killing of Brigadier Gen. M. Uba in Borno State is one of the darkest moments in our fight against terrorism and requires immediate and thorough investigation.”

He added that mass kidnappings in Zamfara State and bandit attacks in Kano State call for urgent and coordinated government intervention. While commending the Kano State Government’s prompt response, including the provision of operational vehicles to security forces, he stressed that the Federal Government must fulfill its primary responsibility to protect citizens.

On the church attack in Eruku, Kwara State, he noted: “Reports confirm that members of the congregation were murdered and abducted. This horrific incident is yet another grim reminder of the alarming surge in violence disturbing our nation. My deepest condolences go out to all victims and their families. I once again call on the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action to secure the safe release and return of the kidnapped victims.”

Kwankwaso concluded by urging the government to reinvigorate the armed forces and empower the Nigeria Police Force to effectively protect and defend citizens against terrorism and banditry.
