The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disowned a viral notice circulating on social media directing applicants who were not shortlisted or did not receive invitation messages for its 2026 recruitment exercise to report to the nearest FRSC camp for verification.
The Corps described the notice as fake and unauthorised, warning applicants and members of the public not to act on the information or allow themselves to be deceived by individuals who may seek to exploit the recruitment exercise.
The FRSC, in a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, said the fraudulent notice instructed affected applicants to report to the nearest FRSC camp for verification on or before September 25, 2026.
The Corps said it had not issued such a directive and urged applicants to disregard the publication.
“The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has categorically disowned a viral notice circulating on social media directing applicants who were not shortlisted or did not receive invitation messages to report to the nearest FRSC camp for verification on or before 25 September 2026. The notice is fake, unauthorised and should be disregarded,” the statement said.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over fraudulent messages targeting applicants in government recruitment exercises, particularly through social media platforms and unofficial communication channels.
The FRSC has urged applicants to rely exclusively on information communicated through its authorised platforms rather than notices circulated through WhatsApp groups, social media accounts or individuals claiming to have access to recruitment officials.
The Corps’ official recruitment portal currently indicates that applications for the 2026 exercise have closed and that existing applicants will be contacted for subsequent stages of the process.
The FRSC had earlier clarified that candidates who successfully passed various stages of screening and interviews were being invited to designated training schools and the FRSC Academy for further stages of the recruitment process.
The Corps also stressed that an invitation for further screening or training does not amount to an appointment. Candidates are required to complete prescribed training, screening, regimentation and other mandatory procedures before they can be considered for appointment.
The clarification followed another recruitment-related controversy earlier in September, when the FRSC dismissed a viral claim that a member of the House of Representatives, Ali Isah, had secured 50 recruitment slots for constituents in Gombe State.
The Corps stated at the time that no appointment letter had been issued to any candidate under the 2026 recruitment exercise. It warned that claims suggesting recruitment slots could be secured through political connections, payment or personal influence were misleading and could expose unsuspecting applicants to fraud.
The latest fake notice could therefore create confusion among applicants who are waiting for information about their recruitment status, particularly those who have not received invitation messages.
By directing such applicants to report physically to FRSC camps, the fraudulent message could potentially expose job seekers to individuals posing as recruitment officials or intermediaries.
The Corps has consequently advised applicants not to visit any FRSC office, camp or training institution on the basis of the circulating notice.
Instead, applicants are expected to wait for official communication concerning the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
The FRSC has repeatedly maintained that recruitment into the Corps must follow its established administrative procedures and that no individual, political office holder, group or external interest has the authority to confer appointments outside the approved recruitment framework.
The warning is also consistent with broader cautions from federal authorities concerning fake recruitment advertisements. The Federal Civil Service Commission recently advised Nigerians to verify recruitment announcements through official government channels and warned applicants against clicking on unsolicited links, submitting personal information or making payments to individuals claiming to facilitate employment.
For applicants participating in the FRSC exercise, the Corps has advised that patience and verification remain essential.
The agency urged members of the public to avoid sharing or amplifying unverified recruitment messages, particularly those demanding physical appearances, personal documents, payments or other forms of compliance outside the official recruitment process.
The FRSC said it would continue to provide updates on the 2026 recruitment exercise through its authorised communication channels.
Applicants have therefore been advised to disregard the September 25 verification deadline contained in the viral notice and wait for genuine instructions from the Corps.
The FRSC’s recruitment portal remains closed to new applications, while existing applicants are expected to receive further communication regarding subsequent stages of the exercise.
The Corps urged applicants to remain vigilant and avoid fraudsters who may attempt to exploit uncertainty surrounding the recruitment process to obtain money, personal information or other benefits from unsuspecting job seekers.
