Kashim announced his decision in a statement titled “A Message to My Supporters and the Good People of Bauchi State,” which was circulated on social media.
The former candidate, however, did not disclose his next political move or indicate whether he would continue his governorship ambition under another political party.
Despite his resignation, Kashim maintained that his commitment to the political struggle for the development of Bauchi State remained unchanged.
He said the decision followed careful reflection on his political journey and the future of the state, stressing that Bauchi needed purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, expanded opportunities for young people and women, improved security and an environment where citizens could live with dignity and hope.
Kashim assured his supporters that his departure from the NDC did not signal the end of his political ambitions, insisting that the broader mission of advancing the state’s development remained his priority.
“Our political journey is far from over, and our commitment to the rescue and development of Bauchi State remains unwavering,” he stated.
He further disclosed that he would continue engaging with individuals and groups who shared his vision of building a peaceful, prosperous and economically vibrant Bauchi State.
The former candidate urged his supporters to remain calm, steadfast and united as they awaited further clarification on the next phase of their political journey.
He said he would communicate his future political plans in due course.
“Our mission is bigger than any political party; it is about the future of our people and the destiny of our state and country,” Kashim added.
His resignation comes as political activities and realignments begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, it remains unclear whether Kashim intends to join another political party or pursue a different political path. He has yet to announce any new affiliation in the statement announcing his resignation.
