The Zamfara State Zakkat and Endowment Board has officiated the wedding of 200 orphans, widows, divorcees, and less privileged individuals in the state.
The ceremony, which took place on Monday, was held at the Zakkat Board in Gusau, the state capital, under the supervision of the Zamfara First Lady and wife of the Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal.
In her address, the First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda, stated that the occasion reflects a collective commitment to supporting the most vulnerable members of the community, including widows, orphans, needy families, and all those requiring assistance to live with dignity.
“Under the administration of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, our state continues to prioritize welfare programs that uplift our people and reduce hardship. I am personally proud of the consistent and meaningful efforts of the Zakkat Board in fulfilling this responsibility,” she said.
According to her, for the fourth quarter of 2025, the Zakkat Board has successfully implemented a series of life-changing interventions, including:
Supporting the marriage of 200 female orphans with essential household items such as furniture and bedding, as well as a ₦200,000 dowry to help them begin their married lives with respect and comfort.
During the wedding ceremony, the Chairman of the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Mohamed Ahmad, represented the brides’ parents, while the Chairman of the Zakkat Board represented the grooms’ parents.

Meanwhile, the First Lady has also settled debt-related cases amounting to about N70 million for 436 persons across Shari’ah Courts and Correctional Centres, giving deserving individuals a second chance to regain their freedom and rebuild their lives honorably.
“To the newly married couples, I offer heartfelt congratulations. May Allah bless your marriages with love, unity, and peace. To those who benefited from debt settlement, may this intervention be the beginning of wise financial decisions and new opportunities,” she prayed.
