United States President Donald Trump has released a photograph showing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in handcuffs, hours after his capture by US forces in Caracas alongside his wife.

Trump shared the image on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, January 3, 2026. In the photograph, Maduro is seen wearing noise canceling ear muffs, dark glasses, and grey Nike branded sweatpants and jacket.

Trump said Maduro was photographed aboard a United States navy vessel, the USS Iwo Jima, following the operation.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Trump said “not a single member” of the US forces involved in the strikes and subsequent capture of Maduro was killed.

Speaking from his residence at Mar a Lago, the US president also said no American military equipment was damaged during the operation.

Trump added that the United States would take control of Venezuela until a political transition is achieved.

“We’re going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper, and judicious transition,” Trump said.

He further warned that US forces were prepared to carry out a second, “much bigger” wave of strikes if required.
