A 22-year-old man identified as Ezekiel Elijah has been arrested for defiling a 13-year-old girl with hearing impairment at Aviara in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Delta state police command spokesperson, Edafe Bright, confirmed the arrest in a video statement on Monday, showing the suspect being interrogated.
Edafe explained that the suspect defiled a 13-year-old girl, noting that the girl is physically impaired.
“But in this case, the 13-year-old girl he defiled is even physically impaired. He took advantage of this child, lured her to his room and defiled her. May God help us,” he said.
According to the police, the 22-year-old suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, saying he never knew that the girl was 13 years old.
“I knew her from the street, two of them were passing, I called them but none of them answered. After they took three steps, one of them came back to me. I asked her to come to my house and she accepted and she followed me to my house,” he added.
Edafe said the police will file charges against the suspect.
