The identities of women abducted during a violent bandit attack in Agwara Local Government Area have been revealed, the same night terrorists set the town’s police station ablaze, escalating fears over worsening insecurity in the region.

It was gathered that the attack occurred on January 31, 2026, when heavily armed assailants stormed communities in Agwara.

During the coordinated assault, the attackers reportedly set fire to the Agwara Divisional Police Station, leaving the facility severely damaged and raising serious concerns about the capacity of security agencies to respond to emergencies in the area.

In a security alert issued on Friday, security analyst Bakatsine confirmed the identities of some of the abducted victims.

“These are some of the girls abducted by bandits in Agwara LGA of Niger State, on the night of Jan 31, 2026 — the same night they set the town’s police station on fire. We pray for their safety and the safe return of all those still in captivity,” Bakatsine said.

The incident has once again exposed the vulnerability of rural communities in Niger State to repeated bandit attacks, kidnappings and arson.

“How can we protect residents, especially girls, from such terror?” Bakatsine said.
