Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi has denounced the reported tear-gassing of Nigerians who were peacefully demanding free, fair and credible elections.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page Tuesday, Obi expressed concern over what he described as the suppression of citizens exercising their democratic rights. He said it was troubling that individuals who once positioned themselves as defenders of democracy are now acting in ways that undermine it.
According to him, such actions risk eroding public trust and weakening the foundations of good governance.
He concluded by encouraging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to building a nation grounded in justice, accountability and credible elections, reaffirming his belief that “a New Nigeria is Possible.”
