Some citizens of Nigeria resident in Ukraine are crying out for help as they are willing to return to Nigeria to avoid being caught up in the invasion by Russina forces.
The House of Representatives in a resolution on Thursday called for the immediate evacuation of Nigerians, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, said the process will commence once airports in the country were open.
But reacting, some of the Nigerians in Ukraine expressed researvation about the federal government’s readiness to evacuate willing Nigerians from the war-torn country.
Speaking with our correspondence, a Nigerian named Kaycee, says he is ready to go home but is not sure when the evacuation aircraft will arrive.
He said;
“Where is the plane for evacution? Make Naija govt bring the plane. I want to go home as soon as possibe. There is war in Ukraine. They just bombed about 10 kilometers to my house. We are hiding and watching. I pray the plane comes soon. I don’t trust Naija govt. So many Igbo brothers are here waiting to return home. The airports are closed.”
Another Nigerian living in Kyiv Ukraine says he is very scared of the bombs and shellings. He told our correspondence that a house nearby has just been shelled by Russian forces. He is willing to return to Nigeria and continue his studies instead dying in Ukraine as Russian troops ae ready to destroy the city.
