The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted several drug traffickers and seized large quantities of illicit substances across multiple states in Nigeria, the agency confirmed in a statement on Sunday.
In Borno State, NDLEA officers on Wednesday, April 1, arrested a female supplier linked to bandit groups operating between the North East and Chad.
The suspect, 28-year-old Aisha Adamu, was intercepted along Gamboru Ngala Road in possession of 4.3 kilograms of Colorado, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, according to Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja.
In Lagos State, the pastor of Celestial Church of Christ, Pastor Afolabi Hodonu, 45, and his wife, Mrs. Success Hodonu, 35, were arrested on Thursday, April 2, at the Gbaji checkpoint along Seme border.
“A search of their Honda Pilot SUV led to the recovery of blocks of skunk weighing 11kg concealed in hidden parts of their vehicle,” the statement said.
“The arrest of the couple followed the apprehension of a fake security agent Sunday Samuel, 35, at the same checkpoint on Monday 30th March while conveying 24.5kg skunk from Seme border to Lagos.”
In Adamawa State, NDLEA officers on patrol along Namtari Road, Yola South, on Monday, March 30, intercepted a trailer marked RUW 947 XA carrying 48,000 tramadol pills.
The driver, Abdulaziz Ismail Korede, was arrested, and a follow-up operation led to the arrest of the intended recipient, Idris Adamu.
In Osun State, 60-year-old Idiatu Oladejo was arrested on April 1 with 15 kilograms of skunk in Isale Osun, Osogbo. In Ondo State, NDLEA operatives raided Itaogbolu Forest in Akure, recovering 351 kilograms of skunk and seeds. Meanwhile, in Benue State, 66-year-old Aminu Usman Gembu was apprehended on April 1 with 28,600 tramadol capsules at Aliade.
In Edo State, a warehouse raid on March 30 in Egbanke community, Orhionmwon LGA, led to the arrest of 37-year-old Roland Owie and the seizure of 1,378 kilograms of skunk.
In Oyo State, NDLEA operatives arrested 40-year-old Ayantola Omodunmomi (a.k.a Iya Elle) on April 1 in the Eleta area of Ibadan. Intelligence revealed that she used her 11-year-old daughter, Anjola, to deliver drugs to customers.
At the time of her arrest, officers recovered 45.6 kilograms of skunk from her warehouse.
