Hon. Francis Barthlomew Chima, popularly known as OmoBarca, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the Osun State governorship election, describing the outcome as a significant triumph for the opposition and a strong signal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
OmoBarca, who is the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the House of Representatives in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency, said Adeleke’s victory demonstrated that Nigerians are increasingly willing to use their votes to demand accountable, people-oriented leadership.
In a statement, OmoBarca described Adeleke as a “man of the people,” noting that the governor’s victory reflected the confidence and support he enjoys among residents of Osun State.
According to him, Adeleke’s political style and connection with ordinary people contributed significantly to his successful re-election.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke, just like me, is a man of the people. His victory is a clear demonstration that when a leader identifies with the people, listens to their concerns and remains connected to the grassroots, the people will stand with such a leader,” OmoBarca said.
He congratulated the people of Osun State for participating in the electoral process and reaffirming what he described as the power of the people’s mandate.
OmoBarca said the election result had wider political implications beyond Osun State, arguing that it represented a victory for opposition forces and an indication that Nigerians were prepared for political change in 2027.
“This is not just a victory for Governor Adeleke. It is a victory for the opposition and a message to Nigerians that the people have the power to determine who governs them. Osun has set the pace for 2027,” he said.
The NDC candidate said the outcome should encourage opposition politicians and their supporters across the country to intensify grassroots mobilization and remain committed to democratic participation.
He maintained that the 2027 elections would provide Nigerians with another opportunity to decide the direction of the country and expressed confidence that the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, would emerge victorious.
“Osun has shown us what is possible when the people stand together. The people are becoming more conscious of their power. I strongly believe that Peter Obi will win the 2027 presidential election because Nigerians are yearning for competent, transparent and people-centred leadership,” OmoBarca stated.
He also expressed confidence in his own chances of winning the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency election in 2027, promising to provide effective representation if elected.
OmoBarca said his campaign would remain focused on the needs of residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun, particularly issues relating to infrastructure, employment, education, security, healthcare and economic empowerment.
He described his political ambition as a commitment to serve rather than an attempt to pursue personal power.
“I am contesting to represent the people of Ajeromi-Ifelodun because I understand their struggles and aspirations. Like Governor Adeleke, I am a man of the people, and I will remain accessible to them,” he said.
OmoBarca further urged political leaders across party lines to respect democratic values and avoid violence, intimidation and other practices capable of undermining credible elections.
“Congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke and the good people of Osun State. Your victory has sent a powerful message. The people are ready, the opposition is ready, and 2027 will be a defining moment for Nigeria. A new political chapter is beginning,” he said.
