Akwete, Ukwa East LGA, Abia State June 26, 2026
The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Akwete/Ohandu Ward in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, has announced the indefinite suspension of Hon. Uzoma Abonta from all party activities over alleged anti-party activities.
According to a letter dated June 26, 2026, and signed by the Ward Chairman, Mr. Samuel Iyowuna, and the Ward Secretary, Mrs. Oluchi Daniel, the decision followed a review of Hon. Abonta’s actions and activities within the party.
The ward executives stated that after careful deliberations, it was discovered that Hon. Abonta was allegedly not working in the interest of the party at the grassroots level and was instead engaging in activities considered detrimental to the party.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, bars Hon. Abonta from participating in any party affairs, attending meetings, or representing the Nigeria Democratic Congress in any capacity until further notice.
The ward leadership further directed party members and officials to refrain from conducting any party business with Hon. Abonta, warning that any member found collaborating with him on party matters during the suspension period may face disciplinary action in line with the party’s constitution and regulations.
The letter noted that the suspension would remain in force pending further directives from the appropriate authorities of the party.
Copies of the suspension letter were reportedly forwarded to the National Leader, National Chairman, State Chairman, and the Local Government Chairman of the party for necessary action.
The development is expected to generate reactions within the party as stakeholders await further decisions from higher party authorities regarding the matter.
