NBA-SPIDEL unveils seven task teams for annual CONFAB in Uyo

APPOINTS UBANI, NWADIOKE AS FINANCE, PUBLICITY CONSULTANTS

The Conference Planning Committee (CPC) for the eagerly awaited 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) Annual Conference has unveiled a high-powered set of sub-committees to drive the conference.

Led by respected criminal justice reform expert, Assoc. Prof. Uju Agomoh and Mr. Paul Daudu SAN as Chair and Alternate Chair respectively, the CPC also appointed fiery human rights activist and former NBA-SPIDEL Chairman, Dr. Monday Ubani SAN and former NBA-SPIDEL Council Member, Mr. Emeka Nwadioke as Consultants.

While Ubani was listed as Consultant to the Sponsorship, Finance and Partnership Sub-Committee, Nwadioke, a Notary Public, was appointed Consultant to the Media, Publicity & Publications Sub-Committee.

Fresh from his role as the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2025 NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) held in Enugu, Mr. Ikeazor Akaraiwe SAN was appointed Chairman of the Programme & Content Sub-Committee while Idachaba Ajogwu will act as the Alternate Chair. Ms. Chioma Anuna is the Secretary of the Sub-Committee.

The Sponsorship, Finance and Partnership Sub-Committee is led by Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Russia and Belarus and former Akwa Ibom State Attorney-General, Chief Assam Assam SAN with Mr. Andrew Odum SAN and Ms. Funmi Adeogun as Alternate Chair and Secretary respectively.

The Registration, Attendee Services & Protocols Sub-Committee has Mr. Ejike Ezenwa SAN as Chair while Dr. Princess Chukwuani is the Alternate Chair. Mr. Abdullahi Karaye is the Secretary.

Mr. Yakubu Bawa has been appointed as Chair of the Media, Publicity & Publications Sub-Committee while he will pair with Mr. Wale Ogunade as Alternate Chair. Ms. Barbara Tosan Onwubiko will act as the Secretary.

Mr. Andrew Odum SAN returns as Chair of the Logistics, Venue & Accommodation Sub-Committee while incumbent NBA Treasurer Blessing Udofa Poromon will operate as Alternate Chair. Immediate past NBA Assistant General Secretary Daniel Kip has been appointed as Secretary.

The Security, Risk & Compliance Sub-Committee has Mr. Mba Ukweni SAN as Chair and Mr. Bulus Atsen as Alternate Chair while O. D. Jimoh is the Secretary.

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting Sub-Committee completes the task teams with Mr. Hilary Ogbonna as Chair. Katumi Oboirien will operate as Alternate Chair while Ms. Adeola Folarin has been listed as Secretary.

The task teams have been populated with other members of the CPC and saddled with elaborate Terms of Reference to ensure that the CPC delivers a best-in-class annual conference.

It is recalled that the NBA-SPIDEL Transition Committee led by the section’s respected former Chairman, Prof. Paul Ananaba SAN had appointed the CPC to drive the success of the Annual Conference scheduled to hold in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State in November.
