Kente honoured: Philanthropy icon accepts prestigious award from Kwararafa University

Chief David Sabo Kente, a renowned philanthropist and politician, is set to receive an honorary doctorate degree (Honoris Causa) from Kwararafa University, Wukari, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the university and society

This prestigious honor is a testament to his tireless efforts in empowering the people of Taraba State and Nigeria as a whole.

As a respected leader, Kente has made significant impacts through his foundation, DSK Foundation, which has provided scholarships to numerous students, donated to orphanages, and supported the less privileged

His philanthropic work has earned him several awards, including the “Ambassador of Peace and Societal Development” and “Icon of Humanitarian Services” by the Taraba State Students Union.

The honorary doctorate degree will be conferred on November 9, 2024, during the university’s second and combined convocation ceremony at the main campus in Wukari, Taraba State. momentous occasion that celebrates the achievements of individuals and their contributions to society.

Professor Shishi Zhema, the university’s Vice Chancellor, praised Kente as a great ambassador of Nigeria, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the university and society.

Chief Kente has announced that he will accept the honorary degree from Kwararafa University, a distinction he’s earned due to his tireless efforts in promoting and uplifting the institution. Notably, Kente has previously declined similar honors from other institutions, making this acceptance particularly significant

Kente will be joined by other distinguished honorees, including Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and former Group Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu.

Kente’s achievements extend beyond philanthropy; he is a successful businessman and politician who has contested for the Taraba State gubernatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress

His restoration agenda for Taraba State aims to harness the state’s natural resources, create jobs, and propel the state to economic growth
