Argentine authorities have arrested Nigerian national Ikechukwu N., marking the country’s first apprehension of a fugitive listed on both INTERPOL’s Red Notice and Silver Notice.

“Argentine authorities have captured Nigerian national Ikechukwu N., marking the country’s first arrest of a #RedNotice fugitive who was also the subject of an INTERPOL Silver Notice,” a statement released late Tuesday read.

According to INTERPOL, the suspect is believed to be the mastermind behind a vast international cybercrime syndicate.

“The suspect is accused of orchestrating multiple romance scams involving thousands of women, and leading an international cybercrime network,” the report said.

The arrest was conducted under Operation Jackal, a global effort coordinated by INTERPOL to dismantle West African organised criminal groups involved in cyber fraud, money laundering, and other transnational crimes.

“The arrest was part of Operation Jackal, an INTERPOL-coordinated initiative targeting West African organized criminal groups.”

INTERPOL stated that the operation was carried out through the joint efforts of Argentina’s Federal Police and Airport Security, with support from regional and international partners.

“It was carried out by Argentina’s Federal Police and Airport Security, with support from IFCACC, FIS, and INTERPOL Brazil,” the report said.

Officials added that the arrest also highlights the success of a new tracking tool designed to target illicit financial flows and recover stolen assets.

“The Silver Notice pilot project, launched in January 2025, aims to help countries trace and recover criminal assets,” the report said.

The suspect is currently in custody, and further investigations are underway to identify and repatriate proceeds of crime linked to the network.

On September 29, SaharaReporters reported that a 29-year-old Nigerian national, Stephane alias K Cee Dominic, had been arrested in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar for allegedly duping more than 100 women across India by posing as a UK-based Korean businessman on a language exchange app.

According to police officials, Dominic used the app to target single women, gain their trust, and demand money, according to Hindustan Times.

Dominic reportedly introduced himself as Duck Young, a Korean jewelry-based businessman who settled in the UK, and lured victims with false promises of personal relationships and business partnerships.

“The accused would claim to be stranded at immigration with large-value cheques or documents pending clearance. Meanwhile, his associates would impersonate officials over phone calls and demand money, which the victim would transfer digitally,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam.
