The House of Assembly hopeful extended his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate incident, praying for strength and comfort for those mourning the loss of relatives and friends.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic collapse of the three-storey building at Alakija, Navy Town. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this unfortunate disaster,” Thomas Victor said.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the collapse and asked God to grant their families the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

This is a painful moment for our community. I pray that Almighty God grants eternal rest to the souls of the departed and gives their loved ones the courage and strength to overcome this difficult period, he added.

Hon. Thomas Victor Onwubiko also expressed concern for those who sustained injuries and those believed to be trapped under the debris, urging emergency responders and relevant agencies to intensify rescue operations to ensure that every possible life is saved.

He appealed to the Lagos State Government, emergency management agencies, security personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the operation to expedite rescue efforts and provide immediate medical attention and support to survivors.

I respectfully call on all relevant authorities and rescue agencies to hasten their operations and deploy every available resource toward locating and rescuing those who may still be trapped beneath the collapsed structure. Every minute counts in situations such as this, and urgent action is required to save lives, he stated.

The Amuwo Odofin Constituency II candidate further commended emergency workers and volunteers already on the ground for their commitment and courage in responding to the disaster, describing their efforts as invaluable during a critical moment.

TVO. stressed the need for a thorough investigation into the cause of the collapse to prevent future occurrences, noting that building failures continue to pose serious threats to lives and property across the state.

He called on relevant regulatory agencies to strengthen monitoring and enforcement of building standards, emphasizing that adherence to safety regulations remains essential in safeguarding residents and preventing avoidable tragedies.

As we mourn with the affected families, it is important that all necessary steps are taken to determine the cause of this collapse and ensure accountability where necessary. We must collectively work towards preventing such incidents from recurring, he said.

The politician urged residents of the area to cooperate with rescue teams and remain vigilant while emergency operations continue.

He also called on members of the public to support affected families through prayers and any humanitarian assistance that may be required in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The collapse of the building at Alakija, Navy Town, has drawn widespread concern among residents and stakeholders, with rescue efforts ongoing as authorities continue to search for survivors and assess the extent of the damage.

Hon. Thomas Victor Onwubiko reaffirmed his solidarity with the victims and their families, assuring them that the entire Amuwo Odofin community stands with them during this difficult period and shares in their grief.
