The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested two cross-dressing teenage boys, Umar Yahaya and Musa Al-Hassan, for allegedly planning to organise a ‘gay’ birthday party comprising all pimps during the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Kano.

The Deputy Command General of the Board, Mujahideen Aminudeen, confirmed the arrest of the teenagers in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

According to him, the young boys who claimed to be pimps were alleged to have invited their colleagues from across the country via social media platforms in order to attend the grand birthday party immediately after the Eid prayer.

“It is unfortunate and upsetting that some young people, whose ages are still very small, such as Umar Yahaya (19 years old) and Musa Al-Hassan (18 years old), claim to be Yan Daudu  (pimps) and even invite others who identify the same,” the statement read.

“They planned that after the prayers (Eid), people would gather and celebrate a birthday where there would be dancing and indecent behavior.

“They were inviting people from different places to come so that after the Eid prayer, there would be inappropriate acts associated with Yan Daudu (pimps), involving immoral conduct and shameless behaviors.”

He noted that such acts were meant to waste the spiritual benefits gained from fasting, thereby throwing away the rewards of Ramadan.

“They (the teenagers) were calling people from everywhere to attend. Out of disrespect, they even mentioned Hisbah and its leadership while inviting people,” he said.

He said the board had already instructed its commanders to deal with the situation firmly by arresting anyone found engaging in any immoral act, adding that the teenagers had apologized and expressed regret over their actions.

“When we examined the situation, we realized that they did not even understand the religion properly. They lacked knowledge of Islam, proper conduct, and even a clear understanding of life.

“They are still very young and inexperienced, and there was nothing meaningful guiding them.”

Aminudeen said the teenagers would be kept under the Board’s supervision to receive proper guidance so they can understand the religion itself and how to practice it.

“We will continue to guide and support them, teaching them religion so that they understand prayer, good character, and responsibility, and help them find productive things to do so that they become well-behaved and responsible youths.

“Because if these children are simply taken to court or imprisoned, it may not help them,” he added.

He said the board would deploy its personnel to monitor various mosques where night prayers are being conducted as Ramadan reaches its final days, to enhance security during such special night prayers and for those observing spiritual retreat in the mosques.

“When the month of Ramadan reaches its final days, it is a time when the community should intensify their efforts, strengthen their determination, and increase their prayers, worship, night prayers (Qiyam al-Layl), and other good deeds.
