Guinness World Records has confirmed Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s latest achievement after she cooked the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.

In a statement on their Instagram post on Monday, Guinness World Records announced, “Hilda cooked up the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice — 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz). Hilda says it took nine hours of fire, parson and team work.”

The organisation noted that the record places Baci back in the books after her previous exploits stirred record-breaking fever across Africa.

Baci’s feat produced about 16,600 plates of jollof rice, requiring 1,200 kilograms of gas and nine hours of continuous effort. She said the record was “served with joy, love and community.”

Already celebrated for her earlier cooking marathon, Baci continues to use her craft to project Nigerian cuisine to the world and inspire a new wave of pride in African food culture.
