The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has debunked a viral claim suggesting that HIV prevalence in Port Harcourt has reached 86 percent.

In a statement released on social media, the Ministry said the viral statistic is entirely false and does not reflect official health data.

It stated that no State in Nigeria has an HIV prevalence rate anywhere near the figure cited in the graphic circulating online.

Officials stressed that the Ministry has not issued any advisory resembling the viral post and that the format, wording, and numbers in the claim do not align with official communications.

The Ministry dismissed the viral report and directed the public to the National AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCP), the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), and official Ministry publications for verified data.
