A youth advocacy group by name ALIGN Movement on Saturday described Peter Obi’s purported endorsement of Labour Party candidate, Olumide Akpata in the forthcoming Edo State Governorship election as a clear betrayal of the principle of Justice, Fairness and Equity.
“It is an embarrassment that Olumide is depending on Peter obi to gather crowd in his rally.
“ALIGN Movement is bigger than Labour party in Edo State. Peter Obi should allow Olumide to prove his capacity if he has any.
“Olumide should stop using Peter obi to push his campaign,” the ALIGN Movement said.
“The reason Peter Obi got the much following he had during the 2023 Presidential election especially in Edo State was because Nigerians and especially the people of Edo State believed that based on the principle of fairness, equity and justice, Peter Obi deserves the sympathy and support of Nigerians especially the people of Edo State.
“Now, it is time for Edo State Governorship election and Peter Obi is preferably playing politics with the issues and dodging the core which is to stand by equity, fairness and justice.
“Based on equity, fairness and justice, it is the turn of Edo Central to govern Edo State. Peter Obi supporting somebody from the zone and Local Government Area that is concluding its eight years of governance of Edo State is a clear departure from the principle of Equity, Fairness and Justice.
“Anyway, the good people of Edo State have resolved to do the right thing regardless of Peter Obi and his politics. The good people of Edo State have said it is the turn of Edo Central to govern Edo State and they have since thrown their weight behind the candidate that meets the criteria of equity, fairness, justice, competence, character, capacity, empathy, credibility and compassion; to be the next Governor of Edo State,” the group further said.
