The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has congratulated the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the occasion of her 65th birthday, praising her record of public service and advocacy for women and children.

Kalu’s congratulatory note was shared on his official X account on Sunday.

Kalu, in his message, highlighted the First Lady’s long history of public service, from her years as Lagos State’s first lady to her three terms in the Senate, and commended her recent work advancing women’s causes.

The deputy speaker also paid tribute to her leadership, while calling on Nigerians to celebrate her contributions to society.

Kalu’s message read: “I extend my warm felicitations to our amiable First Lady, Her Excellency, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, on her 65th birthday.

“Senator Oluremi Tinubu is a compassionate leader whose life reflects a strong dedication to service. Having served as the First Lady of Lagos State with elegance and excellence, she has remained a beacon of hope and an inspiration to women in leadership.

“Her tireless advocacy for the girl child, empowering women, and the less privileged continues to inspire many. I applaud her immense support and commitment to the Reserved Seats Bill. The Parliament is indeed proud of her remarkable legacy in the Senate, where she served with courage and dignity.

“She has been a strong pillar of strength and support system to her husband, our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, as he steers the affairs of the nation.

“On this special occasion, I pray for more wisdom, strength and continued success in all her endeavours, and selfless service to the nation. Happy Birthday, Your Excellency!”

PUNCH Online reports that the President, earlier on Sunday, in a tribute, celebrated his wife, Oluremi, as she turned 65, describing her as his confidant, counsellor, and steady anchor through decades of political and personal trials.

Tinubu poured encomiums on the First Lady not just as his spouse but as a lifelong partner whose sacrifices have quietly shaped their family and the nation.

As First Lady, Remi Tinubu has emphasised social interventions, women-centred programmes and youth empowerment — work she has continued through initiatives such as the Renewed Hope Initiative.
