Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has emphasised the need for Nigerians to tackle the root causes of their challenges while reflecting on the values of the Christmas season.

In a Christmas message shared on X, Atiku extended his heartfelt greetings to the Christian community, urging unity and gratitude.

According to him, “I extend my heartfelt greetings to the Christian community in Nigeria. This season reminds us of the importance of love, unity, compassion, and selflessness.
“It is a time to reflect on these values and come together as a nation despite the challenges we face.
“I encourage Nigerians to embrace gratitude for the blessings of this season, even amidst the hardships confronting our country.

“It is also a time to confront the root causes of our struggles, including poor leadership, which has led to widespread suffering.

“I believe in the strength of our unity. With love and togetherness, we can overcome any obstacle. -AA”

SaharaReporters days ago reported that Atiku faulted President Bola Tinubu’s proposed N49.7 trillion 2025 budget, saying that the budget with over N13 trillion deficit represents consistent financial indiscipline of the All Progressives Congress-led government.

Atiku had said the budget lacks structural reforms and fiscal discipline needed to address Nigeria’s multifaceted challenges.

Atiku, a former presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had faulted Tinubu’s proposal in the budget, noting that to bridge the fiscal gap, his administration plans to secure over N13trillion fresh loans, including N9 trillion in direct borrowings and N4trillion in project-specific loans.
