Oscar Ibru, Chairman of the Ibru Organisation and first son of late billionaire businessman, Michael Ibru, has passed away. He died at the age of 67 after a brief illness.
A prominent businessman and philanthropist, Oscar Ibru was a key figure in Nigeria’s maritime and corporate sectors. He began his professional journey at The Guardian as a management trainee before moving to Emsee Shipping Lines Limited, where he served as Research and Development Manager. Oscar went on to play a pivotal role in the Ibru Organisation, one of Nigeria’s most diversified conglomerates. He headed several subsidiaries and was deeply involved in strategic decision-making across multiple sectors, including shipping, fishing, oil and gas, port operations, and real estate.
Beyond the corporate world, Oscar Ibru was committed to social impact and philanthropy. He served as Chairman of the Dream Child Foundation, a non-governmental organization focused on empowering African children through music and cultural initiatives.
