It was a day of joy, relief and tears of gratitude at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), as the Chief Charles Orie Foundation stepped in to pay the tuition fees of 20 indigent students who were at risk of dropping out because of financial hardship.

The beneficiaries, drawn from different departments across the university, had struggled to meet their school-fee obligations. For many of them, the confirmation that their fees had been paid was an emotional moment.

Speaking during the presentation, the leader of the Foundation’s delegation, Hon. Bethel Nwosu, said the intervention reflects Chief Charles Orie’s commitment to education and youth development.

“Education is the greatest empowerment you can give to a young person. No child should abandon education because of poverty.”

The Vice Chancellor of FUTO, represented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Chukwuemeka Chukwuocha, commended Chief Orie for his consistent philanthropy, describing him as “a man with a heart of gold whose kindness is felt beyond his community.”

One of the beneficiaries, a 300-level student, spoke for the others:

“We thought it was all over for us this session. Chief Charles Orie has just saved our future. We pray God will continue to bless him.”

AND THE STORY DOESN’T END THERE…

This latest gesture is part of a growing record of humanitarian interventions by Chief Charles Orie.

He has paid the hospital bills of indigent patients at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, and other hospitals in Imo State.

He has facilitated the release of inmates from the Owerri Correctional Centre by paying court-imposed fines and compensations, giving them a second chance at life.

Last year, five orphanages across Imo State benefited from the Chief Charles Orie Foundation through food items, educational materials, cash support and other relief materials.

This is more than paying school fees.

It is restoring hope.
It is keeping dreams alive.
It is giving young people a chance to build a better future.

With this intervention, 20 students can stay in school, 20 families can breathe easier, and 20 dreams have been given another chance.

Kindness still exists. And when it does, lives change.
