Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has cleared the air on alleged inducement of INEC Returning Officer during the recently held governorship and state Assembly election.
The Returning Officer, Prof Nnenna Oti who is also the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri had told staff and students of the institution who welcomed her back to office that she was offered bribe to manipulate and compromise the results of the election. She said she was also intimidated by politicians in the State.
Reacting to the allegation during Channels Television program Politics Today, Dr Ikpeazu denied having contact with the INEC official,
He said:
“I am shocked. If she is a professor, she should know that she does not have the capacity to manipulate the election. I have not met her before, I have not spoken to her. I am shocked that she is making a big noise out of nothing.”
