Dr Sam Amadi, a former Executive Chairman and CEO of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has called on the public to stop spreading misinformation and falsehood about the killing of Deborah Samuel by some Islamic miscreants in Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto.
In a statement released on his Facebook page, Amadi said that Debora was actually Deborah died because of impunity, disrespect for lives of others and total collapse of intelligence, morality and basic humanity in much of our society and for blaspheming Prophet Muhammad or Islam.
Read the statement:
“Please stop using blasphemy in relation to the brutal and barbaric killing of Deborah. She did not mention the name of the Holy Prophet nor did she speak about Islam. Please stop this misinformation. She expressed a view and refused to apologize to some arrogant and useless boys because she did not offend anyone. Saying that Holy Ghost fire will protect you is not blasphemy or disrespect to Islam or any religious belief for that matter. Nigerians like to confuse events that are straightforward. Instead of focusing on effective law enforcement people are dragging the word blasphemy without pointing out a statement she made that comes close to ridiculing any religious leader or object. Deborah died because of impunity, disrespect for lives of others and total collapse of intelligence, morality and basic humanity in much of our society. Many Nigerians have been killed at the pleasure of other Nigerians without any justification, just because people believe that the arm of the law is too short. It is in the public interest to ensure that those who committed this heinous crime are adequately punished. There is no blasphemy in the matter. It is pure mindless criminality that must be punished if we are still a human society ruled by law.”
