The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Employees (AUPCTRE), on Thursday disrupted operations in Fidelity Bank branches across the country.

AUPCTRE, picketed the bank over its refusal to pay the sum of N472million to the union.

Mr Benjamin Anthony, the President of AUPCTRE, who led members of the union to picket the bank in Abuja, explained that the union decided to embark on a one day warning picketing against Fidelity Bank for flagrant disregard to court order

Anthony further explained that members of the union in Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency (ANSEPA), won a case against the state government to pay off 13 years backlog of salaries and allowances it owed its members.

Consequently a GARNISHEE ORDER was served on three banks but Fidelity have refused to comply with the order. Anthony said

He also said that 21 and 7 days Ultimatum was served to the Bank which had lapse on Wednesday without any response.

According to Anthony two of the three banks have since complied with the order of the court to garnish the Anambra state government account except Fidelity Bank

He threatened to mobilize AUPCTRE nationwide in collaboration with other sister unions to ensure a total shutdown of Fidelity Bank operation until it remit the N472m to the union
