On April 3, NERC approved an increase in electricity tariff for customers in the classification — from N66 to N225 per kwh.

The labour unions are calling for a reversal of the increase and a return to the negotiating table.

On Monday, May 14 organized labour arrived at the NERC office located at Novel House in Ikeja, Lagos, around 9:40am.

Labour has also shut NERC offices in Jos, Akwa Ibom, Benin, Kaduna and in other capital cities across the country.

Addressing workers at the complex, Funmi Sessi, NLC Lagos chairperson, asked them to vacate their offices while in Abuja, the unions besieged the NERC office located in the Central Business District.
