The governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike has revealed how former president Goodluck Jonathan went to London to beg for support from the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar at Dorchester Hotel in 2015.
Wike stated this during the commissioning of Akpabu-Itu-Umudiogha road in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers.
Wike said:
“We forget history easily. In 2015, Jonathan as a sitting president when he has won the primaries went to London in Dorchester Hotel to plead with this our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to come back to the party and support him. You know the condition they gave to Jonathan? To relinquish his ticket not to run as president of Nigeria. That was a sitting president and the presidential candidate of a ruling party. They gave him condition telling him to relinquish that ticket. We forget history. Today, we are not saying the presidential candidate should relinquish his ticket; we are not being selfish, we are saying since you are now the presidential candidate, let our people take chairmanship.”
