Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday, July 2, received the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at his residence in Abuja, in a meeting that has intensified speculation over opposition alignment ahead of the 2027 general election.
The visit comes barely 24 hours after the newly formed opposition coalition, the Coalition for a Better Nigeria, formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official party. The coalition aims to unify key political actors and platforms in a bid to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future polls.
Obi, a former Anambra State governor, had earlier declared his support for the coalition, saying he was committed to collaborative efforts that could steer the country toward progress.
