Security operatives have intercepted a truck laden with “over 164,000 live cartridges” and arrested a man suspected to be supplying arms in Anambra State.
The discovery followed a joint operation by Sector 5 troops of Operation Udo Ka, operatives of the 63 Brigade, and the Department of State Services (DSS), based on what military sources described as “credible intelligence”.
According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the suspected arms supplier was identified as Emeka Omenife.
Omenife was arrested on May 29 along the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway and handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for interrogation.
The suspected arms courier reportedly confessed to being a member of a syndicate involved in transporting ammunition from Ghana to Nigeria.
