The Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja has announced that, effective January 1, 2025, physical applications will no longer be accepted.
All visa applications must be submitted online through the official platform,www.thaievisa.go.th.
Passport holders from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Republic of Benin, Republic of Cameroon, Republic of Ghana, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, and Republic of Chad, who are residents of these countries, can apply for an e-visa through the embassy.
“Upon approval, applicants will receive a confirmation email. A printed copy of this email must be presented to the airline at the port of departure and to Thai immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand,” the embassy stated.
Visa processing, which takes up to five working days, may take longer in some cases. Applicants must submit travel booking confirmations showing return flight details and ensure that they apply at least 4-6 weeks before their travel date.
However, applications should not be submitted more than three months in advance.
“The visa fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome,” the embassy added, emphasising that visa processing fees may change without prior notice.
It also reserves the right to request additional documents or conduct interviews as necessary.
Applicants are reminded that providing false documents or information will result in immediate rejection of their application and may lead to further action.
The new online application system will terminate the in-person submission process at the Royal Thai Embassy, Abuja, after December 20, 2024.
