Governor Alex Otti of Abia State says his suspended Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo is under probe, adding that if she is found guilty of allegations against her, she will face prosecution.

“Suspension of the Commissioner of Health is on allegation based on suspicion. Already, a committee has been set up and the result will come in,” the governor said.

He added that if Dr. Okoronkwo is found not guilty, she will be reinstated, but if found guilty, she will face the consequences of her actions.

Speaking to journalists in Umuahia on Friday night, Governor Otti, said that the termination of the appointment of his former Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko was part of a reorganisation, emphasising that “no appointment is permanent.”

Governor Otti, however, reaffirmed his commitment to holding accountable those involved in the recent killing of soldiers at Obikabia Junction.

He stated, “We are dedicated to ensuring the security of our state and will leave no stone unturned in investigating the incident. We have been receiving updates and will share further information at the appropriate time. We have empowered Operation Crush to combat crime across the state.”

Additionally, Governor Otti announced the appointment of a Chief Information Technologist to lead the state’s digital transformation, which will introduce broadband technology and enhance internet access.

He explained that this initiative aims to prepare Abia for the future and digitally transform its economy, boosting technology and providing unlimited internet access. The name of the Chief Information Technologist will be disclosed soon.

The governor emphasized the importance of internet access for economic growth and announced plans to expand his infrastructural development to all 17 local government areas in the next few months.
