Six Nigerians have been arrested by the Libya Stability Support Agency’s Department of Investigation on charges of drug trafficking.
The suspects were found in possession of substantial quantities of cocaine, which were ready for distribution.
The arrests were made in a coordinated operation in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, and the seized drugs were handed over to authorities for further investigation.
The Migrant Rescue Watch confirmed the arrests in a statement on Monday, stating that the suspects had been referred to the public prosecution for legal action.
The statement read, “Stability Support Agency – Dept. of Investigation dismantled a drug trafficking gang in Tripoli and arrested 6 #migrants (1 male and 5 females) of Nigerian nationality. The accused were found in possession of large quantities of cocaine ready for distribution.
“All are referred to public prosecution for legal action.”
