A yet-to-be-confirmed number of people have been trapped in a section of a two-storey residential building that collapsed in Abuja on Saturday morning.

It was gathered that the building located close to the popular Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road, Sultan Dasuki Way in the Kubwa area of Abuja.

It was originally known as Al-Hilal Hotel but was transformed to a hospital and most recently, a residential apartment.

Though emergency responders and security personnel were present at the scene of the incident, rescue efforts were met with delays as the cranes required for the operation arrived late, Daily Independent reports.

However, two persons rescued from the rubble were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, while a few others managed to escape independently.
