SARS is dissolved across all formations – IGP

The Inspector General of Police Mr Mohammed Adamu has announced the dissolution of the Special Anti Robbery Squad of the Nigeria police.

He made the announcement during a press briefing with journalists in Abuja. The agitation for the scraping of SARS has been sustained by protesters who marched on the streets to vent their anger against the police unit. #EndSars gained global attention with prominent personalities adding their voices.

The IGP also announced that all the officers working for SARS has been immediately redeployed.

Meanwhile police is firing teargas and water at protesters to disperse them at the Force Headquarters Abuja.
