Reps confirm appointment of new service chiefs

The appointment of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs by President Bola Tinubu, was on Wednesday, July 19, confirmed by the House of Representatives.

The appointments were confirmed after a report of the ad hoc committee that screened the appointees headed by Hon. Babajimi Benson and comprising of all Principal Officers of the House, was considered.

Major-General Christopher Gwabin Musa was confirmed as Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was confirmed as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel lkechukwu Ogalla was confirmed as Chief of Naval Staff and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar was confirmed as Chief of Air Staff.

The Senate had earlier cleared the appointees who will now be decorated with the new rank by the President.
