A former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has congratulated the newly elected leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Igbo people.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Obi extended his congratulations to the new President General; Senator John Azuta-Mbata,
the Deputy President General; Prince Okey Nwadinobi, the Secretary-General Emeka Sibeudu
and other members of the executive team on their emergence as leaders of the organisation.
He described their election as a reflection of the confidence and hope that the Igbo people have in their leadership abilities and commitment to the development of the region and the nation as a whole.
“Their emergence as the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the umbrella body that unites the Igbo people, underscores the level of confidence and hope the people have in their leadership ability and their commitment to the development of the region and the nation in general,” Obi stated.
The former Anambra governor expressed his hope that the newly elected executives would use their positions to promote peace and unity in Nigeria and generate ideas that would foster development, peace, and progress among the people.
“I pray that they will leverage their new offices to continue to work for the peace and unity of our nation and contribute immeasurably to ideas that will drive development, peace, and progress among the people,” he added.
Obi further prayed for wisdom and strength for the new executives, urging them to remain steadfast in their service to the people.
