Following the death of Ifeanyi, son of Nigerian popular singer, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has suspended its political activities for a week.
Davido is the nephew of Ademola Adeleke, the governor-elect of the state.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported Davido was trending in the online space due to reports that he and his fiancee, Chioma Rowland, lost their son, Ifeanyi.
The news emanated from popular Nigerian actress and close friend of the singer, Eniola Badmus, in a now-deleted tweet.
It was gathered that the three-year-old boy drowned in a pool at his father’s house in Banana Island, Lagos State on Monday.
The arrest of the singer’s domestic workers was confirmed the state police command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.
Meanwhile, Adekunle Akindele, the Osun PDP caretaker chairman, announced the suspension of activities in a condolence message to the family on Tuesday.
Akindele directed all party organs and committees to suspend activities in commiseration with the family.
He described the incident as “a very sad occurrence”.
“We mourn the sorrowful exit of our son, Ifeanyi,” he said.
“We pray for the repose of his soul. It is a sad day, but we remain steadfast in our faith in the Lord of the Universe. Our condolence goes to Davido, our youth ambassador.
“We commiserate with our father figure, Dr Deji Adeleke and the entire Adeleke family. We pray the good Lord grant family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
