Notice of clarification on purported AGM

The University of Cross River State Alumni Association (UNICROSS) wishes to inform its members and the general public that the announcement of a purported Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for December 14th, 2024, at Petesville Hotel, Calabar, is entirely false and unauthorized. Necessary authorities are notified to act to avert a breach of peace.

This fabricated announcement is the latest in a series of desperate attempts by a group to undermine the legitimate leadership of our association. Their actions have become a significant burden on our members, causing unnecessary confusion and embarrassment. It is shameful that these individuals would resort to such tactics, rather than engaging in constructive dialogue and respecting the democratic processes of our association.

While we will not stop anyone from celebrating friends, classmates and associates for election victories and appointments, the NEC will not sit by and allow members and the public get misinformed. You may celebrate friendship to any level but definitely not on the name of an officially recognized body which you have no locus to speak for nor represent.

We urge all members to disregard this false announcement and refrain from participating in any
unauthorized meetings in the name of Unicross Alumni.

The association will issue official communication regarding future events and activities through recognized channels, even as we await an amicable decision either from the courts or the Governing Council of Unicross.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Thank you for your continued support.

E.Signed

Engr. Eyo Abia
Asst. National Secretary
