Nigerians on Twitter have chastised the Nigerian Police Force for failing to apprehend those responsible for the death of Deborah Samuel, a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State killed by a mob for alleged blasphemy.

This was stated by users responding to a tweet by the police’s spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who stated that the Force can arrest any perpetrator within three weeks.

We can pick any offender anywhere across the world, just commit an offence and move to any country, we give you max, 3 wks, you are back, free of charge, bro. https://t.co/LRyT85WW0l

Some tweeps also asked why the police could not arrest Musilu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, one of the loyalists of the ‘President-elect’, Bola Tinubu.

Oluomo has been accused of stirring ethnic tension ahead of the March 18, 2023 governorship and State Assembly elections in Lagos when he said Igbo people who would not vote for the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress should stay indoors on Election Day.

The elections were later marred by violence in the state with reports of violence against Igbo people.

“We can pick any offender anywhere across the world, just commit an offence and move to any country, we give you max, 3 wks, you are back, free of charge, bro,” Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi tweeted.

This remark by the police spokesman sparked a flurry of reactions from Nigerians who noted that security personnel had been selective and biased in their pursuit of suspected criminals.

A user identified as @okparamichael9 queried why the Force had decided not to arrest Deborah’s killers and other criminal-minded people.

He said, “Does this imply that the NPF can pick up the Adamawa REC but decided not? He recently wrote a letter stating that Binani won and he hasn’t been picked. How about MC Oluomo? The killers of Deborah in Sokoto? NPF really need to improve to gain the people’s trust.”

It is almost a year since the 200-level female Christian student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education was lynched, stoned to death and set ablaze by her Muslim colleagues over the alleged blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad, yet the culprits have not been brought to justice.

Another user, Agaba Idu said, “Once an innocent citizen are involve you guys will device all means with every technology available to track and arrest until criminal element like Fulani’s killer herdsmen and MC OLUOMO are involve, you guys will being to form incompetent.”

“You forget to add “unless you are not connected” because only the less connected you guys prosecute. Have picked MC oluomo. Una go come twitter cap rubbish. I will suggest you guess deactivate your twitter account. The common man are your victims. Tufiakwa,” Linzkits, another Twitter user added.

“Kindly help us trace bandits and boko haram members killing Nigerians as well. Meanwhile, MC Oluomo is still joking around Lagos,” another user identified as Osayande Of Abuja said.
