Nigerian Defence Academy release statement on bandit attack

The Nigerian Defence Academy has released a press statement on bandits’ attack. The statement sent to our correspondent via a text message stated that unconfirmed number of bandits invaded the barracks and shot dead LT CDR O.S Owolor and FLT C. M Okoronkwo.

Another officer Major C.L Datung is still missing as his corpse could not be found.

The release also said that the barracks has returned to normalcy as soldiers are currently in pursuit of the bandits to have them apprehended.

At about 0223hrs on 23 Aug 2021, unconfirmed number of bandits bridged the perimeter fence of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) permanent site in Afaka, Igabi LGA firing sporadically towards the officers’ quarters. The Bandits abducted unconfirmed number of persons and shot dead LT CDR OS OWOLOR AND FLT CM OKORONKWO while MAJ CL DATONG is still missing. Troops currently in pursuit towards bandits withdraw routes. More details later.
