News Central TV received a delegation from UNICEF on Thursday 17th of October 2024 to discuss a potential partnership to amplify global issues through compelling storytelling across Africa. The meeting, which took place at the News Central headquarters in Lagos, was part of ongoing efforts by both organisations to collaborate on media projects focused on addressing critical social issues such as child rights, education, healthcare, and climate change.
The UNICEF team was warmly received by News Central’s Director of Commercial and Communications, Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan, who represented the Managing Director, Mr Kayode Akintemi, during the discussions. Rosemary emphasised News Central’s commitment to addressing global challenges, particularly those affecting children in Nigeria and Africa. She highlighted the station’s history of producing content on global development issues and fostering dialogue on solutions through various platforms.
“We are excited about the opportunity to work closely with UNICEF to shine a brighter light on the pressing challenges facing children and communities in Africa. At News Central, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change, and our collaboration with UNITED could help drive the conversation forward on critical issues,” said Mrs. Egabor-Afolahan.
The UNICEF delegation led by the Deputy Executive Director of Partnerships, Kitty Van der Heijden, commended News Central’s dedication to covering global issues and expressed optimism about the potential partnership. They noted that by leveraging News Central’s extensive reach and engagement across the African region, both organizations could raise awareness and mobilize action on key issues affecting children and marginalized populations.
This proposed partnership underscores News Central’s mission to inform, educate, and inspire its audience by engaging with global stakeholders and providing a platform for solutions-driven journalism. With a strong focus on developmental content, the station is poised to be an essential partner for organizations seeking to address issues that matter to Africa and the world.
Discussions between both parties will continue as they work toward formalizing the partnership and identifying priority areas for collaboration.
