The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested former Nigerian international footballer Segun George Hunkarin and businessman Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu for attempting to smuggle cocaine through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Chinedu, a frequent flyer from Turkey, was caught on June 24 with 800g of cocaine concealed in his hand luggage.
Hunkarin, waiting to collect the consignment at the airport car park, was also apprehended.
In a separate operation, Europe-based businessman Amen Okoro Godstime was intercepted on June 27 at Terminal 2 of the same airport with 5,000 pills of Tramadol disguised as malaria drugs while attempting to board a flight to Spain.
Meanwhile, at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, NDLEA operatives arrested Ezenwaka Chibuzor Emmanuel with 17.5kg of methamphetamine and 3.05kg of cocaine concealed in bedsheets.
Another passenger from the same flight, 54-year-old Azu Follygan Kpodar, was caught with 1.25kg of liquid cocaine hidden in a soap container.
