National Youth Alliance slams opposition leaders for abandoning Nigerians in the face of Tinubu obsession for personal comfort

The National Youth Alliance (NYA) has lambasted leaders of major opposition parties for their silence and inaction in the face of President Bola Tinubu’s alleged acquisition of assets for personal comfort and favoritism towards his allies.

In a statement released on Thursday, NYA’s Youth President and National Chairman, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, criticized the opposition leaders for failing to take action against President Tinubu’s alleged excesses. These include the acquisition of a N1 billion Cadillac Escalade, a N5 billion yacht, a N238 billion jet, and other luxuries, despite the widespread hardship and dwindling economic fortunes of Nigerians.

The NYA leader also pointed out that under President Tinubu’s watch, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has transferred all its retail outlets to Oando, a company owned by a relative of the President. Additionally, the Tinubu government has reportedly approved the construction of a 700km highway to an offshore company owned by his son, Seyi, and the son of his friend, Chagoury.

Ambassador Abbas questioned the motive of the opposition parties leaders, wondering if they have compromised or are in a working alliance with President Tinubu that Nigerians do not know about.

He expressed concern that while the President “quietly acquires Nigeria like he did Lagos,” the opposition parties remains silent, pretending like all is well.

The NYA leader emphasized that it is not enough for the so-called opposition parties leaders to sit in their comfort zones, posting a few messages on Twitter and Facebook, and then moving on. “We need concrete actions, not just social media rhetoric,” he said.

Despite the dire situation, Ambassador Abbas urged Nigerians not to despair nor give up hope. Instead, he called on them to unite and join their voices with the NYA as they take bold steps to rescue and rebuild Nigeria from the brink of collapse.

“We will not let the hyenas destroy our country. We will fight for Nigeria’s future through every democratic and lawful means,” he declared.

The NYA vowed to continue standing as a strong voice for the people of Nigeria and promised to do more when certified as a political party.
