His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi hosted his annual youth leadership awards on the 29th of May, 2021.
Royal African Young Leadership Forum, a brainchild of the monarch took place at the Oduduwa hall, University of Ife.
Over 80 young people who has distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavour received awards including comedian Debo Adebayo aka Mr Macaroni, late female combat helicopter pilot , Tolulope Arotile and comedienne Maryann Apaokagi popularly known as Taaooma.
Feminists coalition, a group of young women that raised funds during #EndSARS protests to cater for medical and legal needs of protesters also received award for their initiative.
Addressing the awardees, the Ooni of Ife who is well known for youth advocacy, development and empowerment in Africa charged them not to relent in their efforts at innovation and creativity.
He appealed to the winners who were carefully selected from all the geopolitical zones of Nigeria to also mentor undergraduates who witnessed the event and work for the benefit of Nigeria.
Later in the night, a dinner banquet was hosted in honour of the award winners at the magnificent Ile Oodua, the palace of the Ooni of Ife.
Amid pomp and pageantry, the supreme yoruba monarch freely mingled with young people and exchanged banters with them.
