Many feared trapped in Abuja building collapse

Approximately 40 people are reportedly trapped under the rubble of a collapsed storey building in Sabon Lugbe, a suburban community in Abuja.

According to reports, the collapse occurred around 5 pm on Saturday, while the victims were still inside the building.

In multiple videos circulated on social media, particularly X, residents are seen attempting to rescue the trapped victims from the rubble.

At the time of filing this report, it was unclear whether emergency services were present at the scene to assist in the rescue efforts. Our correspondent was also unable to reach the Head of Public Affairs of the FCT Emergency Management Department, Nkechi Isa, despite several attempts.
