United Kingdom (UK) government on Monday in its latest terror alert warned its citizens to, in addition to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, avoid travelling to other listed 12 states in Nigeria over high level of insecurity.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office issued the fresh terror alert in its updated foreign advisory to its citizens in Nigeria.

The UK which had barely two weeks ago issued a terror alert warning its citizens against traveling to or around Abuja over alleged planned attack by terrorists, in the fresh alert said that some other states should however be travelled to only if it is essential.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in the latest advisory said, “The FCDO no longer advises against all but essential travel to the Federal Capital Territory, including the city of Abuja, but risks remain, and further details about the continued threat from terrorism in this region have been added. The FCDO advises against travelling to other areas of Nigeria remains in place.

“The FCDO advises against all travel to Borno State, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and the riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.”

The UK authorities added that “The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Bauchi State, Kano Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Kogi, within 20km of the border with Niger in Kebbi State, Abia, non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers states, Plateau, and Taraba states.”
