The Indigenous People of Nigeria has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the 2022 Amended Electoral Act into law.
This was revealed in a statement sent to our correspondent by convener of the group, Mazi Dickson Iroegbu. He congratulated the president for ‘the courage shown and political will expressed’ in signing the bill. He commended Buhari for the good he has done to fatherland.
Iroegbu further asked the National Assembly to convince the president to jettison the call for amendment in particular section of the act because of the interest expressed by people in high places who engage public funds to execute personal interest.
The statement further stated that Nigerians look forward to a more transparent and peaceful electoral process that will usher in a leadership that is chosen by the people.
Iroegbu also described the assent of President Buhari to the bill as a “heroice act and a welcome development” for Nigeria’s democracy.
